Blargh, i'm so stuck as how to continue. i haven't shaded yet, because i want to get in a BG first. In the background, I want their names and a little glow of their elements behind each ninja. But what about behind that? I'm not really sure. T^T If you have any suggestions, or can help me out a little with shading, then please comment.

A reminder of stuff i still need to finish or draw for myself really but if i missed anything, please tell me. I've been feeling sick lately, and haven't been getting on as much as I'd like to get reference picture and such, so I'm being reallly slow about things getting done. Hm... you really don't need anything behind that... that is if you make the chakra aura go up almost to the top.

I would suggest maybe a gradation of colours, all of the elemental colours for the ninjas, with a texture overlay to separate it from the foreground :d

You said on a earlier picture that you're running up against the limits of Paint.net -- it may be time to bite the bullet and learn a fancier program. Try GIMP -- it's free and there's a book on how to use it at the library. There is also something on C|Net's download site called Photobie that looks like it'll let you paint or something, but for the life of me I couldn't figure out how to make it do anything... I uninstalled it, but you might have better luck with it.

They say not to buy the next level of tools up till you hit the limits of what you have -- sounds like you've hit your limits. You may be a good enough artist that you really need the professional software and hardware -- which probably means Adobe photoshop at $500 or so, and eventually an artist quality graphics tablet (I haven't a clue about the price on them). Well... there's always student loans if you're going to college.... Or being like the rest of America and getting in over your head on credit card debt (seriously DON'T do that! -- been there, done that, bad (baaaadddd!) idea). Or saving for, like, the next ten million years, but it's a possibility....

Myself, I have no luck with computer coloring -- I color by hand and scan in the result.

I do plan on getting a graphics tablet soon, maybe for my birthday, because my dad knows I'd use it ALL THE TIME. XD
Hmm, I do plan on going to college for some sort of arts, so saving up for my own software will benefit me anyhow.

Right now, I have no tablet, and a photoshop cs4 trial (I'll probably buy cs3 eventually, if it comes to be that I can't afford cs4, which is like 699.

)

I would hand-color my drawings, but that would require a new sketchbook and a wider palette of PrismaColors, marker or pencil. The 24 set is good, but I only have one skin tone, and some colors are completely missing that I would require.

All in due time. It's time for Kitsu to get a job. ><
